Fantastic sugilite necklace
Sugilite was only discovered in the middle of the 20th century and its name goes back to its discoverer.
The main location where sugilite was found is in the South African Kalahari Desert. However, the Wessel mine is already exhausted, which means that the value of the stone is constantly increasing. Other locations where sugilite has been found include the island of Iwagi in south-eastern Japan, Namibia and India. Sugilite from other locations (except the Kalahari Desert) is not suitable for the production of jewelry and gemstones as it is very small and does not develop a special color. Sugilite from the Kalahari Desert is therefore a sought-after and rare gemstone for jewelry.
The findings of sugilite are accompanied by a number of other minerals, including albite, apatite, biotite, pectolite, zircon, aegirine, richterite, allandite, andradite, titanite and quartz.
The stones in the necklace come from a lot of sugilite raw material that is over 15 years old; today it is impossible to obtain raw material for necklace stones of this quality
The sugilite is of selected quality with a beautiful color, natural and untreated (not dyed or oiled)
The clasp is a rhodium-plated sterling silver clasp, rhodium-plated silver does not discolor from black.
