Grössentabelle Armbänder:
Optimal wearing comfort is crucial to ensure that the bracelet neither cuts in nor fits too loosely. To make the selection process easier, we have a practical size chart that can be used to easily determine the ideal bracelet size:
The arm circumference can be reliably measured using a tailor's tape measure or a tape and a ruler. It should fit snugly when measuring, but neither too loose nor too tight.
A rule of thumb for orientation is
Bead diameter: 8mm to 10mm:
Depending on the desired fit, add 1.5cm to 2cm to the arm circumference.
Here are some examples:
- Arm circumference: 16 cm - recommended bracelet length: approx. 18 cm
- Arm circumference: 17 cm - recommended bracelet length: approx. 19 cm
- Arm circumference: 18 cm - recommended bracelet length: approx. 20 cm
- Arm circumference: 19 cm - recommended bracelet length: approx. 21 cm
- Arm circumference: 20 cm - recommended bracelet length: approx. 22 cm
Bead diameter: 4mm to 6mm:
Depending on the desired fit, add 1cm to 1.5cm to the arm circumference.
- Arm circumference: 16 cm - recommended bracelet length: approx. 17 cm
- Arm circumference: 17 cm - recommended bracelet length: approx. 18 cm
- Arm circumference: 18 cm - recommended bracelet length: approx. 19 cm
- Arm circumference: 19 cm - recommended bracelet length: approx. 20 cm
- Arm circumference: 20 cm - recommended bracelet length: approx. 21 cm
For bracelets with a clasp, always calculate the entire length with the clasp.
If you find a bracelet in our store that does not match your size or you want to change the clasp to a magnetic clasp, please contact us. We will be happy to alter your bracelet to your desired length.
Gemstones
Gemstones are very rare and precious crystals or minerals that are given their beauty by the right cut and shape. They are set as gemstones in necklaces, rings or bracelets in various designs or drilled into necklaces or bracelets.
The best-known gemstones are diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds, which are formed under high pressure and high temperatures deep inside the earth.
These gemstones are characterized by their particular hardness on the Mohs scale
.
Most minerals are crystalline - this means that they have a regular atomic structure, the so-called crystal lattice.
They are formed with different chemical compositions and
typical crystal structures, mostly through heat and pressure in geological processes.
Geological
formation processes:
- Crystallization from molten rock, e.g. magma
- Formation through aqueous sedimentation
- Transformation of crystalline rock through pressure and heat
A rock is a natural mixture of one or more minerals that occurs very frequently on earth.
Examples:
Granite, limestone, sandstone, primary rock, feldspar, basalt.
Rocks are mostly used as building materials
and are not used for jewelry.
A gemstone, on the other hand, is a rare, hard and colorful crystal or mineral that unfolds its beauty as a gemstone through a special cut. The harder the gemstone, the more brilliant the shine.
The best-known
gemstones are:
diamond, ruby, emerald, sapphire and aquamarine.
Criteria for
a gemstone:
- rare and valuable
- special hardness
- intense, natural colors
- historical and cultural significance
In the past, only a few stones were referred to as gemstones - such as diamond,
ruby, sapphire, emerald and a few others.
Today, this classification is no longer common, as many other stones are of high quality and can compete with the classic gemstones.
Examples: Amethyst, peridot, citrine, turquoise, lapis lazuli.
Nowadays, all colored stones are referred to as gemstones.
Crystals are solid substances that are bounded by flat surfaces and thus form typical geometric bodies with developed tips.
There are 32 crystal classes that can be traced back to 7 crystal systems:
The 7 crystal systems:
- cubic
- tetragonal
- hexagonal
- trigonal
- rhombic
- monoclinic
- triclinic.
Crystals are formed by slowly cooling a melt so that its particles can arrange themselves in an orderly fashion.
If this happens too quickly, the result is not a crystal but an amorphous (shapeless) substance - such as glass.
Metals
Sterling silver is a high-quality silver alloy that is mainly used for jewelry.
It consists of 92.5 % pure fine silver and 7.5 % other metals, mostly copper.
Pure fine silver (99.9 %) is too soft for jewelry production.
Mixing it with 7.5 % copper makes it:
- harder and more stable
- less susceptible to scratches
- more malleable
Sterling silver turns black because it reacts with sulphur compounds from the air - this process is called sulphidation. This produces silver sulphide, which forms a dark layer on the surface.
This is not a sign of poor quality, but a natural chemical process. The discoloration can be easily removed with a polishing cloth.
Sometimes blackening is even used deliberately as a design effect to give jewelry a noble, dark finish.
In gold plating, a layer of gold is applied to another metal (e.g. bronze, stainless steel or sterling silver).
Process:
- Electroplating: The piece of jewelry is placed in a gold salt bath and gold particles are deposited on the surface using an electric current.
- PVD coating
(Physical Vapor Deposition): A modern technique in which gold is vaporized in a vacuum chamber and deposited evenly. This method is particularly abrasion-resistant and durable.
