The Sugilite is of selected quality with a beautiful color, natural and untreated (not dyed or oiled), in this size and color a real rarity. The sugilite comes from South Africa

The clasp (and all silver parts) is a lobster clasp made of rhodium-plated 925 sterling silver. Rhodium-plated silver does not tarnish.
Sugilite was only discovered in the middle of the 20th century and its name goes back to its discoverer.
The main location where sugilite was found is in the South African Kalahari Desert. The mines are in Hotazel (town), but the Wessel mine is already exhausted, which is steadily increasing the value of the stone. Other locations are the island of Iwagi in south-eastern Japan, Namibia and India. Sugilite from other locations (except the Kalahari Desert) is not suitable for the production of jewelry and gemstones as it is very small and does not develop a special color. Sugilite is therefore a sought-after and rare gemstone.
In addition to aegirine, other accompanying minerals (parageneses) include albite, allandite, andradite, apatite, pectolite, quartz, richterite, titanite and zircon.
